Vcrd'S Climate Catalyst Innovation Fund Supports 25 Local Projects

The Vermont Council on Rural Development has announced the recipients of its third round of funding under the Climate Catalyst Innovation Fund, with 25 projects receiving a total of $82,500 to create "a meaningful, community-scale impact" on the state's climate, Vermont Business Magazine reports.

"This provides exciting opportunities to launch ideas in action at the community level," says Cavin Bailey, the Climate Economy Program Manager of VCRD.

Among the projects that received funding: ACORN (Addison County Relocalization Network) to create a farmer's retreat to create a farmer-led network resilience to mitigate the risks and adapt to the opportunities that a changing climate brings.

Shelburne Driving & Energy Committee to build a shed to promote heat pump education and awareness.

Vermont Community Foundation to develop frontline emergency preparedness and climate economy workforce training.

Old Stone House Museum to convene the CROs cohort to convene the relief phase of the Climate Catalysts Innovation Fund 2021-2022 Report.

To date, this fund has awarded 68 local innovators with over $200,000 in collective support of community-led energy and projects.
